Acceptable Use Policy

What you can — and can't — do with BandVolt.

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") is incorporated into our Terms of Service and applies to anyone who uses BandVolt. Breaching it can result in your content being removed and your Account being suspended or terminated.

1. Prohibited content

You must not upload, store, generate, link to, or share through the Service any content that:

  • infringes any copyright, trade mark, design right, performer's right, publishing right, moral right, trade secret, or other intellectual-property right of another person — including using third-party samples, recordings, lyrics, artwork, fonts, or AI-generated material that you do not have the right to use;
  • is unlawful under the laws of the United Kingdom or any other jurisdiction from which it can be accessed, including (without limit) content that is defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, threatening, harassing, stalking, discriminatory, or that incites violence or hatred against a person or group on the basis of a protected characteristic;
  • sexually exploits or endangers a child in any way; depicts a minor in a sexualised manner; or constitutes child sexual abuse material ("CSAM") — uploading such material is a serious criminal offence and we report it to the appropriate authorities;
  • promotes, glorifies, incites, instructs in, or supports terrorism, violent extremism, mass violence, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or other serious harm;
  • is doxxing, swatting or harassment material, including non-consensual intimate images ("revenge porn") or deepfakes that impersonate a real person in a defamatory, sexualised, or otherwise harmful way without their consent;
  • contains malware, ransomware, spyware, viruses, exploit code, or other hostile or harmful code;
  • contains personal data of other people that you do not have a lawful basis to process, including bulk lists of contact details or special-category data (such as health, religion, biometric, or sexuality data) that you do not need to upload for your band's legitimate purposes;
  • is designed to deceive (for example, fake job listings, financial scams, phishing pages, fake invoices) or to impersonate another person or organisation in a misleading way;
  • facilitates regulated activity for which you are not authorised, including unlicensed gambling, the sale of regulated goods (firearms, drugs, prescription medicines, controlled chemicals), or unlicensed financial services.

2. Prohibited conduct

You must not use the Service to:

  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk, intimidate, or impersonate another person, whether a user of the Service or not;
  • send unsolicited bulk messages or spam (including via invites, mentions, or comments) or otherwise misuse our communications channels;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network, or breach or circumvent any security, authentication, rate-limiting, or storage-quota measure, or attempt to access another user's Account or content without authorisation;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, underlying ideas, algorithms, or structure of the Service, except to the extent such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law;
  • use any automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers, headless browsers) to access the Service, collect data from it, or replay or replicate its functionality, except as expressly authorised in writing by us, or as expressly permitted by an exposed and documented API;
  • resell, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, or commercially redistribute the Service or any part of it, or use it to provide a competing product, hosting service, or managed offering to third parties;
  • generate or train a machine-learning model on User Content or outputs obtained through the Service that you do not own or otherwise have a right to use;
  • use the Service to launch or facilitate a denial-of-service attack, to generate or transmit malware, or to do anything intended to disrupt the Service or any other service;
  • use the Service in violation of applicable export-control, sanctions, anti- money-laundering, or anti-bribery laws.

3. Storage, bandwidth and quotas

Storage quotas, AI-feature limits, and similar usage limits exist to keep the Service available and affordable. You must not artificially split, daisy-chain, or otherwise circumvent quota limits across multiple Accounts or Bands. We may throttle, suspend, or restrict access in response to usage that materially exceeds reasonable expectations for the plan in question, even where no specific numerical limit has been published.

4. Sharing, public links and member privacy

When you share content with other people (whether by inviting them to a Band, a song, or by generating a Public Share link) you are responsible for what you share with them. Only share content you have the right to share, and only with people you trust to handle it appropriately.

Do not use the Service to surveil, profile, or harm another Band Member or Collaborator. Do not export, screenshot, or repost another user's comments, financial entries, or other content outside the Service in a way that they would not reasonably expect.

5. Reporting abuse and copyright complaints

If you see content or behaviour on the Service that you believe breaches this AUP, please report it to us at [email protected]. Include links or other details that identify the content or user concerned and describe the issue in your own words. The more specific your report, the faster we can act.

Copyright complaints should be sent to [email protected] in the format described in section 10 of our Terms of Service .

If you believe a child is in danger, contact your local emergency services immediately. In the UK you can report suspected child sexual abuse material to the Internet Watch Foundation ( iwf.org.uk ) and content related to terrorism via gov.uk/report-terrorism . We cooperate with law enforcement where required.

5A. Reporting harmful and illegal content (Online Safety)

BandVolt is a user-to-user service: comments, Public Shares, and other content may be visible to others. If you encounter content you believe is illegal or harmful, report it to [email protected] with the URL or context, a description of the concern, and any urgency. You can also use the "Report a concern" link in the app.

We will acknowledge reports within five (5) business days, assess them proportionately, and may remove content, disable Public Sharing, suspend accounts, or escalate CSAM to the Internet Watch Foundation and relevant authorities. Complaints about our moderation decisions may be sent to [email protected]; we aim to respond within ten (10) business days.

For emergencies contact local police. In the UK you may also report fraud to Action Fraud .

6. What we may do if you breach this AUP

We take a risk-based, proportionate approach. Depending on the severity and history of the issue we may:

  • warn you and ask you to remove the content;
  • remove, disable access to, or quarantine the content ourselves;
  • limit a feature for a Band or Account (for example, disable Public Sharing);
  • suspend or terminate the offending Account or Subscription;
  • preserve and disclose information to law-enforcement or regulators where lawful and necessary;
  • take any other action we consider appropriate in the circumstances.

For serious or repeat breaches we may act without prior notice. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you what has happened and how to respond. If we terminate an Account for breach of this AUP, we are not required to refund any fees.

7. Changes to this AUP

We may update this AUP from time to time. We will notify users of material changes in line with our Terms of Service .
